Here is what that search actually means. Downtown Orlando is not the job. The lots that make people hunt for cheap sod are the big, open, full-sun yards in Poinciana and along the Orange / Osceola line. Those yards eat St. Augustine in water and money. Bahia is the value pick when the street is not already a thick HOA St. Augustine lawn. It looks like a ranch lawn, not a golf green, and it needs less water once it is rooted.
Installed price is still $1.50–$3.00 per square foot (checked September 2026 against Central Florida supplier pallet sheets and recent contractor-installed quotes; residential turn-key band, not a fixed quote). That band is the complete job: tear-out if needed, grading, fresh sod, watering plan. A delivered-only pallet is cheaper per pallet but leaves tear-out, grading, laying, and timing risk with you — the installed-versus-delivered tradeoff is labor and risk, not just grass. The turf itself is cheaper. The labor is not free. A 1,000 square foot job is about $1,500–$3,000. Bigger lots scale, which is exactly why Bahia wins here. The per-foot savings show up when the yard is actually large. Quotes under $1.50 almost always skip haul-off or grading. That is not the cheapest install. That is an incomplete one.

Straightforward, easy-access St. Augustine lots can land toward $1.50–$2.00 per square foot. Typical residential installs often sit around $2.00–$2.50. Measure once before you call. Phone measure is fine. A Poinciana lot that “feels like an acre of grass” is often several thousand square feet of actual turf once you subtract the house, driveway, and the part that is already trees. That number is what the band multiplies against. If you only need the front and a strip along the road, say that. You do not have to sod the back forty on day one.
